Explore SignatureTo improve efficiency in the property sector, the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has introduced the 1-day mortgage release initiative. This approach is designed to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles, simplify processes for homeowners, and align with the country’s Smart Government strategy. With the first pilot underway in Ajman, the project is positioned as a practical step toward modernizing real estate services.
To facilitate fast mortgage in the UAE, an inaugural Customer Council meeting was held by MOEI. Key government and private stakeholders were in attendance with the aim to find solutions to ongoing challenges in the mortgage process.
The outcome was one-day mortgage approval in the UAE, which will drastically reduce the time and effort homeowners spend clearing their loans and securing title deeds.
Before these reforms, homeowners often faced frustrating delays due to multiple in-person visits, conflicting documentation rules, and lack of integration between systems. With the introduction of this new mortgage reform in 2025, these challenges are now being resolved through coordinated digital efforts.
Direct debit cancellations will now be handled automatically by the Emirates Development Bank after full loan repayment, saving time and energy for both banks and property owners.
This innovation is part of a larger UAE streamlined mortgage process. Thanks to real-time digital integration between MoEI, the Emirates Development Bank, and the Ajman Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation, residents will receive immediate updates once their mortgage release is complete. No paperwork and no queues required, just smart service delivery.
The momentum behind these changes is only growing. As UAE announces new mortgage procedures, the pilot in Ajman is being closely watched, with plans to roll out the system nationwide. By digitizing and unifying the mortgage release experience, the UAE is setting a precedent for efficient, customer-centric public service across all seven emirates.
Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, described the reform as a cornerstone of the UAE’s mission to achieve “zero bureaucracy.” He emphasized that these reforms are not just technological upgrades but were co-developed with real users through the Government Accelerators program.
Mohammed Bin Taliah, Chief of Government Services, hailed the initiative as a “significant leap” in public service integration, noting that it showcases how collaboration between federal and local entities can drive national innovation.
Omar bin Omair Al Muhairi, Director-General of Ajman’s Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation, expressed pride in leading the pilot. He reaffirmed Ajman’s commitment to pioneering digital-first public services in real estate.
The pilot is currently live in Ajman, with nationwide expansion expected soon.
No. The new process eliminates all in-person visits and paperwork, offering a 100% digital experience.
The Emirates Development Bank will automatically cancel the direct debit and notify all integrated systems, including the land department.
After the success of the Ajman pilot, the program will be gradually rolled out across all emirates.
